The Importance of Firefighting

Many people do not realize the importance and the value of volunteer firefighting. These men and women sacrifice their personal time to respond to the scene of an emergency. Often times jumping out of bed in the middle of the night to one’s aid. They balance this with other jobs, family, and manage to protect and educate others. Unlike full time firefighters they get paid very little but still have to go through the same amount of training as everyone else. Many people do not think of volunteer firefighters as “professionals” but just because they do not earn as much money as full time firefighters does not mean that at all.
They abide by a strict code of excellence and pride and are the fitting examples of volunteerism every day. The firefighter brotherhood is more often seen in volunteer departments where every member has each others back. And that is something that Americans should be proud of.
